This is a sort of personal collection of stuff that get me inspired. It’s not only objects though, the collection also reflects concepts that I believe in and apply in my life or in my work. Sometimes I found it rather difficult to select the images for the presentation, because I have a folder in my computer with almost 2000 images of things that I like, and every image has somethings that gets my attention. In the end I managed to narrow down the list to the 20 things that i think signify the most to me, at least in this period of my life.

Theory of chaos: this my main believe, that small causes can have large effects in a given future.
Sketchbook: a small cause that had a huge impact on my life. Page by page it allowed me to discover the world of illustration
BurntToast Creative: my main inspiration when I began to llustrate. His unique style helped to discover my own
Macabre: this is something that has always caught my attention; the way that reality can be twisted to its darker side. A side that we all fear in some way
Concept art: another way of how reality can be bended. Although this is more of a source for inspiration and imagining new realities
Wabi sabi: a japanse concept. It focuses on the acceptance of imperfections and asymmetry. This is a concept that I apply to both my life and my illustrations
Mike Mignola: his style, the simplicity and the use of color in his illustrations makes him one of my favorite artists. he also represents a part of the Wabi-Sabi concept, in which the little imperfections in his work are what makes him unique
Calvin and Hobbes: this is another comic I’ve collected since I can remember. Besides the illustration style, the philosophical and sarcastic content has shaped my view of the world more than one time
Illustration meets real life: this is a topic I’ve always had in mind. It’s a way of seeing everyday life in a more fun and interesting way
Silhouettes: a graphic resource that has become part of my style. Simple, yet challenging when it comes to combine the correct shapes and colors so they communicate what’s intended
Animation films: they are a source of inspiration because they have to give an idea in short time and they always show different visual styles
Music: I am a collector of music. Not in the physical way, but in the way that I try to discover music that sets me in the right mood or gets me inspired
Lovecraft: a horror writer. The scenery and myths that he creates is something that serves me as inspiration for new ideas
Books: besides the fact that I love to read, I’m a big fan of book covers. I would buy thousands of books just because of the cover design
Print material: I collect anything that gets my attention in case I can use it for a future project. I’m like a design hoarder
Packaging: just like with the print materials, I collect packages I like to analyze what I find interesting about it and educate myself
Branding: again, I collect logotypes or brand projects I see for future reference. This helps to keep me updadted as well as learning new ways of developing a brand
Tickets: from concerts to exhibitis, I always keep the tickets. They are a specific reminder of what you have done. Kind of like photos, but they sum up the whole experience of the ticket, not just a moment
Museums: they are a way of looking into the past and finding things that can you can use in the present
London: this is not about something tangible, but more about collecting experiences and images from my time here
